Mince Pie

For Day 9 at Beccy's Place Month Long Holiday Cards Challenge the prompt is the letter H.
I have chosen H for Holly

The centrepiece of this card is the mince pie image which is from Stamper's Delights. This is an older one that is now retired. I adore all the yummy things at Christmas and mince pies are definitely one of those special treats. I have coloured the image with Promarkers and made the base with a festive stripe.

I have used a sketch which is from Week 28 of the the Christmas Card Challenge on the card Making Tips group of Facebook. We have a prompt for each week and put the card into a folder. I am playing catch up on some of the prompts.

I used the sketch as the centre panel of an 8" square card. The patterned paper is from The Works which I have matted onto dark green card. I had quite a few holly papers to choose from but liked the smaller pattern on this design.

The image has been matted onto circles of card in red and green with the final one being cut with a die from the Crea-Nest-Lies XXL69 set. This is a great sets of 12 dies in sizes ranging from 2.5cm to 13.5cm. The scalloped edge is really fine and cuts perfectly every time. They are expensive at around £20 per set but when you consider you get so many dies it is quite good value. You can use the inside of the die as a circle template too so that has helped me use them in other ways.

Finally the sentiments is an old one from Doodle Pantry. This has been die cut with the Rococo Frame set by Crafter’s Companion. I have used a combination of rub on chalks and wax to outline the frame and add subtle colouring.

I am off to M & S shortly to get a bit of shopping and might treat myself to one of their mince pies mmmmmm.

  1. Love your mince pie Mandy, it's very festive with the green and red wrapper and the sprig of holly on top! I love the ornate frame you used around the sentiment, it adds a lovely elegance to the card. The background paper is fabulous too!

  9. Great Christmas card featuring that fun mince pie image, Mandy! Love the traditional colour scheme and that background paper is so pretty...
I have to admit that, although not my favourite, I do love the occasional mince pie - especially warm from the oven with a dollop of ice cream! Talk about making a bad thing worse! Ha, ha!
