For Day 8 at Beccy's Place Month Long Holiday Cards Challenge the prompt is the letter G.
I have chosen G for Gingerbread
I recently won a challenge at Polkadoodles and as part of my prize I chose this cute image Delivery Time. I had seen a DT member use it and thought so lovely. I could so imagine me as a child taking a pair of cute Gingerbread friends out for a walk in the snow with a little robin tagging along for company. I am however concerned that my little friends don't have welly boots on though and are like to get soggy feet from the snow......
I have had the Gingerbread House chipboard die cuts for a few years. They are all really glittery and I have been waiting for the perfect project to use them on. I built the layers up with foam squares.
The image is coloured with Promarkers along with some metallic gel pen accents. I really went to town with adding embossing paste for snow and the hat fur trim, then sprinkled with Glamour Dust glitter. The embossing paste has added so much texture and it was hard to photograph in lighting that showed it off well. I added more glitter to the characters to really make it sparkle. The image was fussy cut and popped up on foam pads.
I used a sheet of A4 red card for the base. The stripe paper was cut down from a stamp themed sheet of paper from Craftwork cards. I like the slightly softer effect of the stripes and didn't want the background to detract from the gingerbread house and image.
The holly ensemble is made from some sequins and beads. Finally I added a foiled sentiment that has been rescued from a shop bought card and matted onto some scraps of card.

ReplyDeleteLove this card. It has lots of embellishments! I had a set of gingerbread stuffed toys - a boy and a girl - when I was a child. I received them the same year we got a puppy for Christmas - needless to say, I didn't have them very long!
ReplyDeleteLovely scene Mandy. I like that you added a second G with the gold in your sentiment.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job colouring the cute image Mandy, and I love the addition of the different mediums on the fur and snow. A little bit of sparkle is always welcome at Christmastime! The gingerbread house is awesome... love that you built up different parts for a 3D effect. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Beccy
The schparkle, dimension, and texture of your design is awesome, Mandy! And those little ones are adorable! Don't worry about the gingerkids feetsies ... they are covered in magic dust so they never get cold or soggy ... UNLESS they are dipped in milk!! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
