Girl Floating With Balloons

Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez has a Progressive Freebie challenge on Facebook. If you use any of her images and submit a card by the end of that month then you get a free image the following month.

I have used the image Girl Floating with Balloons and coloured with Promarkers. I selected the coloured background which is actually the inside of a birthday card which I have rescued/recycled. I chose colours from this to colour the balloons in. I added a snippet of striped paper from a K & Company pad and matted this onto a scrap of silver cardstock.

I used pencils to colour the sky over the top of a pale blue Promarker. I find the pencil adds a more swirly textured effect on top. The clouds are a stencil which came with issue 29 of Crafter's Inspiration from Crafter's Companion. I tried colouring with white pencil and it was too pale so outlined in a mid grey, then blended a lighted grey. I used a white Pentel paint marker and added a swirly effect to the clouds. If I am honest I had no idea if it would work but it has added so much depth and texture and is shiny IRL. I am very happy with my experiment.

I matted the image onto some silver holographic card. I love how the colourful balloons have reflected in the card which was an unexpected bonus. Finally I added a die cut sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

We Three Mice

Imagine That Digistamp has given us this great set to play with We Three Mice set as the Digi of the Month for July. It is a progressive image challenge and as long as you take part with the image for that month you will automatically get the following one.

This set has the 3 wise kings depicted as mice as a full image in black and white and colour. You also get the separate mice stamps to colour and 5 really versatile sentiments. Kris is really very generous with the sets she gives us and it is always a pleasure to colour her images.

I would not normally use the 3 wise kings on a Christmas card but this is so cute I made an exception. I opted to use the full image and coloured the main image with Promarkers and used Arteza pencils for the ground and sky. I matted the image and sentiment with some dark blue card.

The card base is a matte gold. I added the image and then popped up the sentiment on some thin foam pads. To finish I added some gel pen to the stars in the sky and some gems to add a bit of twinkle.

Card Details -

Digital Image & Sentiment - We Three Mice (Imagine That Digistamp)

Srsly Stoked Bike

Kate Hadfield Designs and Kim Jensen Designs collaborated together at The Lilypad and made a great set called Srsly Stoked. This is aimed at teens (and all the cool dudes) and has a grungy style. Currently it is on offer at half price and is an amazing deal.

In the Collaboration kit you get a pack of papers and elements from Kim Jensen Designs

And you get a pack of elements from Kate Hadfield Designs. This is also available in the Kate Hadfield store as black & white stamps.

There is also a cool alphabet Kate designed called Graffiti which complements the kit.

Using this whole kit I have made a collection of cards which I have showing you over the next few days whilst the kit is on special offer. This is the final one in the series and I am really pleased with them. I love the bright and bold graphic style and they work really well for male cards.
--------------------

My card has been made by creating a digital card in a graphics programme. I used the two tone checked paper for the bottom layer and then added the orange circle one to it as the foreground.

The sentiment has been made using the Graffiti alphabet. I just played about with the positioning of the letters until I was happy with it. It is quite forgiving due to the style so you don't have to worry about having perfect alignment. The 'Ride On!' was suggested by my hubby as it is a sentiment that riders use to boost each other on a popular bike training app that many people use.

The bike and 'road' are from the elements kit by Kate. The scribble block element I stretched and manipulated to look like a road and then angled the bike on it.

Once I was happy with my overall layout this was then printed onto glossy photo paper. I really find this makes the colours pop and is perfect for this bright bold style of design. I mounted this onto a white card blank.

I am not normally all that great with cards for men but found this kit was particularly fun to use. I had intended to do 2 or 3 cards and ended up making 6 so that is really good going for me

Over at Kate Hadfield Designs there is lots going on. Kate is really generous with her freebies which are readily available. If you sign up to the newsletter you get access to an extra subscriber area the Doodle Den where there are loads more freebies. There is a gallery full of projects by the Creative Team and customers and so much inspiration for crafters and teachers. I would highly recommend you pop over there and join in the fun.

Srsly Stoked Cool Dude Shoes

My card has been made by creating a digital card in a graphics programme. I layered the blue starry patterned paper onto the marbled black to leave a border.

The Happy Birthday sentiment has been made using the Graffiti alphabet. I just played about with the positioning of the letters until I was happy with it. It is quite forgiving due to the style so you don't have to worry about having perfect alignment.

The Cool Dude wordart and shoe images are from the Kate Hadfield elements. I positioned one shoe on top of the other and rotated them until I was happy with how they looked. I printed a second layer of the foreground shoe and this was fussy cut and popped up on foam pads to add extra dimension.

Once I was happy with my overall layout this was then printed onto glossy photo paper. I really find this makes the colours pop and is perfect for this bright bold style of design. I mounted this onto a white card blank and added the decoupage layer.

Srsly Stoked Spilled Buttons & Brads

--------------------

My card has been made by creating a digital card in a graphics programme. I really liked the textured effect on this green and orange paper and how it went diagonally.

In Kim's elements pack there is a motif which is like you have spilled a load of brads and buttons on your desk (we have all done that I am sure). As it is diagonal I played about with positioning it along the same paper diagonal, resizing until I was happy with it.

The sentiment has been made using the Graffiti alphabet. I just played about with the positioning of the letters until I was happy with it. It is quite forgiving due to the style so you don't have to worry about having perfect alignment.

Once I was happy with my overall layout this was then printed onto glossy photo paper. I really find this makes the colours pop and is perfect for this bright bold style of design.

I added some real buttons and brads to the image so it added some dimension to it. This was then added to a silver card blank

I am not normally all that great with cards for men but found this kit was particularly fun to use. I had intended to do 2 or 3 cards and ended up making 6 so that is really good going for me

Jacob's 18th Birthday

I had been asked to make a card for an 18th birthday for a lad who is keen on photography. I instantly suggested I use this digi image Chibi Aiden Photo from Stamper's Delights which was met with approval.

Initially I had a plan of what colours I would use and then I saw this current sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches

I thought if rotated I could see the squares being a border of a film strip and I completely changed the direction of my card.

The film strip is a digital stamp from Word Art World. Jennifer had stopped making word art which was a shame as I have had a lot of sentiments from her over the years. Recently she announced she was starting back up again though YAY! Check out her new look site for freebies and really great value packs.

The film strip has 3 slides in it so I added another to it and cropped it to a strip of 5 to suit the sketch. The extra one I thought would be perfect for the sentiment which I typed in using my graphics program.

I covered the card blank with a mottled grey paper. It is only a small card and the layers of white and black card are bold so I didn't want to distract from the main image.

Jacob has dark brown hair so I coloured to suit in Promarkers and then added some shading with pencils. The rest of the image has been coloured with mainly grey Promarkers and added some silver gel pen accents. I wanted to keep it monochrome like a black and white photo so I am pleased with the overall look.

As this has used a Stamper's Delights image I am able to enter it into their Facebook Progressive freebie which is a bonus too.

Size - 12 x 17cm

Srsly Stoked Live to Skate

Using this whole kit I have made a collection of cards which I will be showing you over the next few days whilst the kit is on special offer.

--------------------

My card has been made by creating a digital layout in a graphics programme sized to suit a finished card of 6" square. I layered 2 of the papers from the kit so it showed a green border around the patterned circle paper.

From Kate's kit I added the skateboard and the already made word art for the main sentiment. I printed a second layer of the skateboard and this was fussy cut and popped up on foam pads to add extra dimension.

The HB2U has been made using the Graffiti alphabet. I just played about with the positioning of the letters until I was happy with it.

Once I was happy with my overall layout this was then printed onto glossy photo paper. I really find this makes the colours pop and is perfect for this bright bold style of design. I mounted this onto a yellow card blank and added the decoupage layer.

I am not normally all that great with cards for men but found this kit was particularly fun to use. I had intended to do 2 or 3 cards and ended up making 6 so that is really good going for me
