Season's Tweetings

It is the start of a new month and we have a new image to play with for

Our New Blog Home is now up and running and all the challenges are being hosted from there. There is a challenge for each day of the week and we have ones that last for a month at a time. Lots of prizes on offer with individual ones for the specific challenges and sitewide ones for each calendar month.

Come on over and join in the fun at The Outlawz

This month at the
Progressive Freebie Challenge we have been given this great digital set Season's Tweetings from our sponsor Wink Wink Wink.

It is a huge kit which included the outline stamps in various format plus blue and green pre-coloured versions.

As I have recently had a new colour laser printer I took advantage of the pre-coloured images and printed the blue one.

I covered a card base with a blue snowy sky paper and added a silver and blue frame rescued from a previously received Christmas card. I added some silver mirror card to the sentiment and some silver peel off lines to the outside edge of the image.

I embellished the image with a clear glitter pen on the carrot. The image has button eyes so I raided my buttons and found some small ones. They made the eyes looks blank so I used a white paint pen to colour the inside white. This looked terrible... I thought I had ruined my card to be honest. I added some pearl centres and this made a huge difference and gave the snowman almost a human expression. I call that a Happy Accident.

Finally, as it is Christmas and the perfect reason/excuse to add bling I added some small red gems to the holly berries and some strips of larger ones to the opposing corners.

The Progressive Freebie challenge is a great opportunity to use images from different artists who you may not have used before. It helps to take you out of your comfort zone and introduce you to different styles and I would highly recommend you take part.

This month at the Progressive Freebie Challenge we have been given this great digital set

You get quite a few images with this so you can make a male or female with spider or without and a sentiment plus a separate banner. It is very versatile and will be useful for so many projects.

I have made a treat bag with some sweeties in it. Years ago I got a card making box from QVC and it had some gift bags in it which have never been used before. They are quite long so I cut it down a bit and added some folded over black card.

The ghost with banner was printed 8cm wide and 13cm tall. This has been coloured with Promarkers on the banner plus a grey shade around the ghost.

The card I use in my laser printer for alcohol marker colouring on is quite thin so I laid the image onto some much thicker card and then cut through the layers. This makes it substantial enough to support itself. It was simply stuck on with some strong double sided tape.

Autumn Girl Reading

This month at the Progressive Freebie Challenge we have been given this lovely image

This image has a wistful feeling to it and I found a sentiment in my digital collection that I felt fit it perfectly. It is an old retired one from Sentimental Susan that had a medicine bottle on it. It didn't look right in the background so I edited this out.

Reading has always been a very important part of my from being a small child. Whether it be a physical book or a digital reader the escapism you feel from reading a book, the way you picture characters in your head is something that has fed my imagination over the years. In this super busy world it feels like an indulgence to make time to read but it is important to slow down and have some 'me' time. That is indeed medicine for the soul.

I used a combination of Promarkers and pencils to colour the image. I used fine tipped markers to add delicate detail to the tree bark and around the sun and colour the tiny leaves.

I mounted the image onto some kraft card. The patterned paper is a really old leaves one from Papermania, I just love the Autumn colours as it is my favourite season of all. I used some touchy feely suede ribbon. The flower embellishment has been created with 2 fabric flowers, and opened metal beadcap and a gorgeous gem brad holding it all together.

The Progressive Freebie challenge is a great opportunity to use images from different artists who you may not have used before. It helps to take you out of your comfort zone and introduce you to different styles and I would highly recommend you take part.

Stacy the Stegosaurus

Well how did that happen so quickly..... It is the start of a new month and we have a new image to play with for The Outlawz Progressive Freebie Challenge

Our New Blog Home is now up and running and all the challenges from today will be hosted from there. There is a challenge for each day of the week and we have ones that last for a month at a time. Lots of prizes on offer with individual ones for the specific challenges and sitewide ones for each calendar month.

This months at the Progressive Freebie Challenge we have been given this fab image

I had planned my card layout out and gathered together the patterned and darker green papers from my scraps. I then selected a nice subtle patterned green background paper. These greens then dictated the overall colour scheme for my image.

I used Promarkers to put down the base layer of colour. I then added some shading using coloured pencils. I find these are a great way to add texture. Finally I added some pebbles in pencil for the dinosaur to walk on.

The sentiment is an old freebie from a blog called Tidbits Trinkets. I have obtained so many free images and sentiments from bloggers in the past and have of course kept them in my collection to use as and when required. When I create with them I go back to the blog so I can link back to them and give the relevant credit. It makes me so sad that there are many of these artists whose blogs have closed down over the years. I do hope some of them have become successful artists and perhaps sell on Etsy or something. It is such a shame for these talented people if they do not create any longer.

The Progressive Freebie challenge is a great opportunity to use images from different artists who you may not have used before. It helps to take you out of your comfort zone and introduce you to different styles and I would highly recommend you take part.

Funny Sunflower

After a 6 month break I am back creating for The Outlawz Progressive Freebie Challenge.

The Ning group has closed and all the challenges will be moving to a new blog that is being set up at present. The Progressive freebie is being hosted on the Facebook group this month. If you have previously taken part in the last month's challenge you will be automatically sent the following month's image. If however you have not taken part before you can head to the group, request the image and take part.

This month we have been given the super cute image Funny Sunflower from

The pack includes a pre-coloured image and the black line are to colour yourself. I of course opted to colour it myself with Promarkers and added some pencil shading.

I created a base layer by adding a sentiment from Desert Diva to the background. I then copied the main flower head and the central face to create 2 more layers to decoupage the image and raised on foam pads.

The base card has a layer of textured paper inked around the edges. The glitter border and glittered sunflower are from DCWV.

I added some bee, ladybird & dragonfly stickers to embellish the background and add a few more little friends. This image really makes me smile so I think the sentiment is just perfect.

Claudia's Plant

It is the start of a new month and I am back with my DT hat on for

As long as you made a card with the October freebie you will automatically get the November image free. If you have not taken part before you can request this month's image so head on over there and join in the fun.

It is a fabulous way to use images from artists you many not have used before. Also sometimes the image is completely different to something you would normally use. It has been a good way for me to stretch my creativity and take me out of my comfort zone.

I would highly recommend anyone who is not already taking part to jump in and have a go. We are a really friendly bunch at The Outlawz.

This month we are sponsored by Sheepski Designs

We have been given this image Claudia's Plant to play with this month which is a beautiful image that can be used for many occasions.

I coloured the image with pencil as I wanted to create a soft look appropriate for a Get Well card. I used the latest Outlawz Sketch Wednesday for the layout and used gold card for my base. I added a brown paper for the matting layers throughout and the leaf paper has a nice soft design so not to detract from the image.

The sentiment is a magazine freebie matted onto scraps pf gold and the brown paper.

If you fancy having a go with this image I hope we will see you enter our challenge at
The Outlawz and look forward to seeing the entries.
