Sharing Is Caring

 


It is the start of a new month and I am back with my DT hat on for 
The Freebie/Progressive Challenge at The Outlawz.



As long as you made a card with the May freebie you will automatically get the June image free. If you have not taken part before you can request this month's image so head on over there and join in the fun.

It is a fabulous way to use images from artists you many not have used before. Also sometimes the image is completely different to something you would normally use. It has been a good way for me to stretch my creativity and take me out of my comfort zone. 

I would highly recommend anyone who is not already taking part to jump in and have a go. We are a really friendly bunch at The Outlawz.

We have very generously been given the whole digital set of Sharing is Caring which includes colour and outline stamps plus papers and a finished card all ready to print. I of course love to colour so chose to use the outline stamps.

I selected my papers first. These are from a DCWV 3 drawer set I got from QVC years ago. There was a Spring, Summer & Winter set and it had papers, diecuts, stickers and all sorts of themes. This was from the Summer set. I just love the bright colours.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and pencils in matching colours and added a checked pattern to the tablecloth. The image reminded me of a 50's diner that we visited in Whitby a few years ago and that had checked tables with a black trim. 

The sentiment is a digi that I have printed some time ago. I distressed the edge of the image and sentiment using a small black inkpad.

I added a heart patterned self adhesive ribbon and a glittered chipboard sentiment which I embellished with some tiny brads.

Love Is In The Air

 


It is time for another challenge over at The Paper Funday.
Our challenges are always Anything Goes with an optional twist. 
The twist this time is to use a LOVE theme on your project.


We are very fortunate to have 2 sponsors for each challenge this year which means we get to choose which artist we would like to work with. This really is great as it gives us double the choice. We are very lucky with the amazing sponsors that are lined up this year, many of which are old favourites and some are new to me.


I chose to work with an image from Hetty Clare Art called With Love. Who doesn't love a little sausage dog? Before printing I added a freebie sentiment from Ginger's House. No new ones have been added since 2017 but you can still get this as well as many hundreds of others and they are all free. I would definitely recommend you popping over there if you haven't used these sentiments before.

The image has been coloured using Promarkers and a glitter gel pen for the hearts on his little doggie coat. The balloons have been coloured and then added some red Stickles glitter glue. I have embedded some seed beads in red, pink, white and clear to add some texture and detail.


I used Stella Says Sketch 903 layout from Catch The Bug. The card base has been made using an A4 sheet of black card. I added a strip of heart patterned paper leaving the right hand side unstuck for the time being.


I cut some hearts out using an old set of Sizzlits dies Funky Hearts and placed these underneath the paper strip. The image has been matted onto a Heart Squares Nestability die and I raised this up on thin foam squares. I cut a circle from a scrap of card, added a red holographic heart sticker and a border of white gel pen faux stitches.

I made an embellishment for the bottom sentiment using some alphabet beads and red seed beads threaded onto some thin wire. I poked 2 holes in the card base and threaded them through, twisting to secure them and tighten the wire. This is covered with tape and the card insert.

Happy Valentines Day


I have been a very bad blogger !

I have been struggling for time a lot over the last year or so as I am now virtually full time which has definitely had an impact on my hobbies and pastimes.

Although I have not been the most prolific card maker in that time I am loving being in my new creative space.

I have room to play, and my stash is organised in such a way that I can very quickly find whatever I need.

I have made a pact that I will not buy any new stash (especially not paper). I am limiting myself, trying to only use what I have with the exception of the odd magazine with a great freebie. Even then I am questioning whether it is something I will really use....

It looks like many of the change blogs that I used to follow and participate in have closed. Also many of the digital artists that I have stamps for have close down which is sad to see.

Anyhoo, this is the Valentine's card I made for my hubby. We have been together for 30 years in July and our love grows deeper every year. I am lucky that he is very romantic and tells me he loves me all the time.

The heart background panel and sentiment are both from a Kanban card sheet, part of a kit that I had from QVC a million years ago.

The image is Emo Heart from Just Some Lines who seem to have closed now as I cannot find their site anymore.
