Snowman Heart Cupcake

Over at The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up it is the Merry Maidens turn to showcase some fabulous Christmas cards.

This paper pack Geometric Man designed by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles
is up for grabs to the lucky winner who follows the optional Twist to make the card suitable for a man in honour of Movember.

If you want the chance to win this month's featured paper pack, be sure to create a card that features the twist.

The Sponsor for this challenge is Limited Runs who is offering a $10 gift certificate from their store.

I don't have access to a colour printer at the moment and cannot print out the digital papers so I have made a hybrid digital card. This way I can honour both the image artist, and use Lisa's digital papers. The added bonus is I then have the image already coloured to make into a physical card at a later date.

I chose to use this cute little image Snowman Heart Cupcake and coloured it with Promarkers. I made a starry sky background using a colouring technique from Beccy's Place. The blending creates a halo effect around the stars and this is enhanced with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle pen, white gel pen and silver Stickles glitter glue. I used a red glitter gel pen to colour the heart.

I have used baby blue Stickles glitter glue for the top of the cupcake and added some diamond dust to the snow. The frosting and textured snow is courtesy of Aleenes Glitter snow embossing paste so there is tremendous texture to the image. This was then scanned to produce a digital copy to then make my card.

I use a program called Affinity Designer on the Mac and it is fabulous for creating digital scrapbook pages and cards like these.

I used sketch 194 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 for the layout.

The base layer of the card is a plain dark blue. The next layer is the Grunge paper taken from the Geometric Man paper pack. I then added a half sheet of the Chevrons paper from the same pack.

Following the sketch circle layers are then created in the blue and Grunge to create a frame for the image to sit inside. I then created smaller circles to frame the sentiment.

The Merry Christmas Circle sentiment is a very old freebie from Bizzy Becs blog. This is still available to download here if you would like it. The heart sentiments inside this is from Daisy Doodles whose store is unfortunately now retired. The 2 combined make it suitable to give to your significant other.

Finally there have been some snowflakes added from Snow Much Fun. I have added some 'brads' to the centres which are simply small circles of the blue and Grunge papers.

I do hope you will take part in our challenge and look forward to seeing your creations.
