Tealight House

For Day 26 at Beccy's Place Month long holiday challenge the prompt is the letter W.
I chose W for window.

I have had a card in my stash since 2013 that was 4 houses that clipped together to make a 3d card. This inspired me to do something similar but I wanted to light up the windows.

I started by cutting the windows out with a craft knife to make several apertures. I added plain vellum on the back of the house to create a soft glow rather than a harsh light.

To make the card stand up I have added panels that were die cut using the Gemini Large Box Die. The decorative panel was the die cut with a co-ordinating Patchwork panel die to create the trellis effect. I did initially make it as this but the light was too harsh. I then decided to add vellum to the inside of these panels. One panel is attached to each side of the house to make a triangle. This will allow it to be folded down and go flat inside an envelope.

The image below shows the reverse and how it glows with a battery operated tea light inside it.

This image shows what it looks like from the front without the light on. Still very pretty but much nicer with the light on.

  1. WOWSERS!! This is stunning Mandy! The house looks absolutely beautiful without the lighting, but it transforms into something magical at night. I love the glittery roof and the gorgeous red door. The flower boxes and shrubs are a beautiful addition too. Absolutely wonderful!
    Cheers,
