AKV Super Hero



The little boy that lives over the road from us is 5 years old and we have been invited to his birthday party. He loves Super Heroes so I made him a personalised card using this stamp AKV Super Hero from Bugaboo Stamps. He features as one of the stamps in the AKV Super Heroes pack which will be retiring soon so if you want him ad his pals you will have to get in quickly.

I have coloured the image using Promarkers in the Captain America colours and created a second layer of the shield so I could decoupage it.


I used the latest Stella Says Sketch 812 for the layout of the card. I used a bit of artistic licence for the centre panel though as I couldn't make my image fit across the whole card.


The papers are all from my scraps and I used some silver self adhesive tape to cover the join between the 2 papers.

The sentiment has been cut with a Spellbinders Nestabilities die Reverse Wonky Rectangles. The star banner is Star Bunting from Joanna Sheen. You get 5 flags on the die and I trimmed it down to fit across the corner. I have mounted these onto the card using 3d foam squares. Peeling off the backing left the star sticky so this was perfect for adding some glitter to it.

I added silver Stickles glitter glue to some of the stars and spots on the papers as well as the clouds and puffs of smoke (or poopy power as my hubby named it!) The cape has had some Glamour dust glitter added to make it stand out better from the rest of the outfit.

Finally the shield has been treated with Glossy Accents to make it really shiny. I then left the card to completely dry overnight.

Hopefully my little man Dylan will love it. We have seen him growing up from 15 months to now 5 years and is such a lovely little boy so I wanted to make something special for him.

Christmas Pooch



Over at The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up it is the Merry Maidens turn to showcase some fabulous Christmas cards.

For my card I have used this cute little doggie Christmas Pooch. I have decided he is called Patch because of the patch on his eye. He has the most adorable sweater and is  'All Dressed Up' ready for Christmas.

I have coloured Patch with Promarkers & Flexmarkers and added some texture to the fur using as blender pen.


As I don't have access to a colour printer at the moment I have scanned in the image and used it to make a digital card.

My Coin Flip recipe is as follows:-

1 - Tails - Make card with 4 or more layers
2 - Heads - Square card
3 - Heads - Dots (also incorporated stripes)
4 - Heads - Lace or Ribbon (made ribbon from the striped paper rotated)
5 - Tails - Real or faux stitching (used stitched paper)


For the layout I have used Sketch 187 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2



I use a program called Affinity Designer on the Mac and created a square card. I used the darker green from the spotty paper as the accent for matting and layering throughout. I used 3 of the papers from Eclectic Mix 1. The colours are lovely and although it is a much more subtle colour palette than I would usually use for a Christmas card it has really come out so well and I am pleased with it.  

The main background is Dots, the secondary paper behind Patch is the zig zag and I used Horizontal stripes as a ribbon by rotating it and cropping.

I used a holly embellishment from Scrapgirls. I created a copy and flipped it so it looked like a bow.

The final touch was adding the glittery snowflakes from Snow Much Fun



The sentiment is from Ginger's House. There are so many freebies on this blog.  The blog has not been updated since 2017 but there are hundreds of sentiments on there. If you have not visited I would strongly recommend that you take a look at how many really high quality free sentiments are on there.

Cheers



It is time for another challenge for Team B at Through The Craft Room Door


The sponsor for this challenge is Hetty Clare Art.

I have used the Cheers digistamp which comes both with and without the banquette and also sat on some grass picnic stylee so very versatile.

 





I have coloured her with Promarkers and Flexmarkers in colours selected to match the paper. I added gold gel pen to the metal frame of the banquette.



The patterned papers are from the Boho Chic & Blank Canvas First Edition pads from Dovecraft.  They are older pads as I have so much paper I have vowed not to buy any more unless it is an absolute bargain. Frequent visitors to my blog will know that I like bright colours and I really like the orange and green in the floral paper. It is glittery with a glossy effect over the top. Quite subtle as the glitter is encapsulated.

I used the Intricate Lace Frame die from Crafter's Companion for the gold lace frame behind the image. It adds a lovely dimension but as it is lacy it is quite delicate to match the intricate legs on the banquette. 

Finally the gold foiled sentiment from Craftwork Cards has been die cut with Labels 17 Nestabilities die and matted onto a larger gold layer.

Gingerbread Treat



At the Outlawz Progressive Freebie Challenge this month we have been given this super cute image from Twinkle Lane Designs. This is a digi company I was not previously aware of and there are some gorgeous images. I am slightly partial to a little gingerbread man so  absolutely adore this one.


I have coloured the image with Promarkers and a green Sharpie for the main mug. I have started to put my colours with the image as I think it is interesting to see how many colours you use to blend with. I know it was helpful to me when I started colouring to see what people have used. I initially coloured the snowflake with a gold gel pen but then when the card was made decided it needed glitter so used silver Stickles and added gold liquid pearls paint for the icing on the gingerbread man.


I used the latest sketch from Cheerful Sketches for the basic layout. The papers are from a great Christmas theme paper pad that was from The Works last year. The decorative strips have been recycled from old cut up shop bought Christmas cards. I have a family friend who saves them for me and I re-use any embellishments that may be useful on cards I make. The sentiment has been cut using a die from Crafter's Companion and a mat of gold card underneath. 

Finally I added a 3D sticker embellishment I got in a QVC TSV a million years ago. I used my very first Sizzix Originals Die Gingerbread Man and made him with shrink plastic some years ago. It still amazes me how such a large die ends up being so much smaller. I used a little piece of red glitter card to highlight the hearts.

There are loads of Christmas in July challenges at the moment. I completely missed out on these last year as I was working all the and getting ready to go on a cruise. Can't believe a year has passed this quickly, it's definitely been a year of change for many reasons.
