Mother's Day

At Kate Hadfield Designs there are so many fabulous sets it is really easy to get inspired to use them. There are digital stamps which you can colour, coloured versions you can scrapbook or make into digital layouts. Papers, patterned overlays and doodles galore. No matter what your skill level there are so many goodies to play with.

One of the most fabulous things about being in this Creative Team is that we have free rein to make anything we want to using the sets in the shop. This is amazing for inspiring creativity as there are so many amazing packs to play with. I feel very, very lucky to be able to have this opportunity.

I am very late blogging this as we had Mother's day in the UK a few weeks ago.

I made this card for my Mother in Law. I try to make completely different cards for her every year on both Birthday and Mother's Day. It can be a real struggle to make something different each time and I was inspired to make this card having seen an example of this type of fold in a card making group on Facebook. I thought I would try to recreate at.

My focal point is the flower jug from the Tea Party Doodles kit. I chose the papers to compliment the colours in the image.

I used glitter card for the base layer and added floral papers which were a magazine freebie many many years ago.

The image was sized to 10cm high, fussy cut and mounted onto 3d foam pads. The sentiment was printed off my computer, cut using a die and then matted using the same papers.

The inside of the card opened out is how it is intended to be displayed. I created my first test run with paper to get my sizing right and I am so glad I did as it was such a help.

I added the papers to the back section first. Cut a heart out from the pop out section using a Sizzix nesting die and then stuck the 2 pieces of card together. Cutting the plain green was one of the most awkward parts as I dit the heart first and then trimmed the side afterward to make sure it fit properly.

After adding the patterned paper to the side sections it was time to decorate.
I used the flower jug again and lots of butterflies. Finally the dangling heart was a sentiment I printed off my computer twice, cut out white card hearts and sandwiched the twine between both layers.

I saw Mom earlier today and she still has this card on display. The beauty of it being that the main inside if the card does not specifically mean it can only be on display for Mother's Day.

Over at Kate Hadfield Designs there is lots going on. Kate is really generous with her freebies which are readily available. If you sign up to the newsletter you get access to an extra subscriber area the Doodle Den where there are loads more freebies. There is a gallery full of projects by the Creative Team and customers and so much inspiration for crafters and teachers. I would highly recommend you pop over there and join in the fun.

Signs of Spring

Every month at Kate Hadfield Designs we have a completely free scrapbook template you can download. I have used this great layout to create a digital page to celebrate the onset of Spring

Pop over to Kate Hadfield Designs Blog and you will find Framed in the Free Templates section

At Kate Hadfield Designs there are so many fabulous sets it is really easy to get inspired to use them. No matter what your skill level there are so many goodies to play with.

For the base layer I used my goto paper pack Painted Pretties. I used the blue and green one and selected part of the page to represent sky and grass.

I added a continuous border at the bottom using the daisy from Springtime Tapes. By carefully placing several together they can join together seamlessly.

I added the Mommy sheep and the little lamb from the Nativity set. I love the cute lamb and can't wait to see some in the field at the top of our road. I am very lucky that we live only 6 miles away from Birmingham city centre but we have many farm fields within walking distance of our house.

I used many of the elements from both Springity Spring and Signs of Spring. It is so much fun to combine your favourites from these sets ans they always go so well together.

Keep Slaying Those Dragons Valentine

At Kate Hadfield Designs there are so many fabulous sets it is really easy to get inspired to use them. There are digital stamps which you can colour, coloured versions you can scrapbook or make into digital layouts. Papers, patterned overlays and doodles galore. No matter what your skill level there are so many goodies to play with.

Kate is celebrating 17 Years of designing digital doodles and has a 25% off in the store for this weekend only. This is the perfect time to buy those sets you have had on your Wishlist so take advantage of it while you can.

My valentine card for my hubby has been made using this month's free scrapbook template as the layout. This comes in several formats so can be used with a variety of digital programs.

My theme of my card is my hubby is my Knight in Shining Armour and has been for nearly 35 years. He has had many bouts of anxiety and depression over the last 3 years and has a lots of dragons to slay. Unfortunately the latest being in hospital for 8 days with a life threatening infection in his gallbladder. He is now on a waiting list to have it removed. He is not the best patient and is quite often in varying levels of pain and discomfort. The last month has been hard for us both :( and so very, very tiring.

One of the most fabulous things about being in this Creative Team is that we have free rein to make anything we want to using the sets in the shop. This is amazing for inspiring creativity as there are so many amazing packs to play with. I feel very, very lucky to be able to have this opportunity.

The background of my card is the blue and green paper from Paper Pretties. This is my favourite and most used paper as you can use specific sections from the papers and the colour gradients and whitewashed effect create a soft look.

Over the top I added the small heart overlay. You can make this bold like in the preview image below. I opted for a soft effect by reducing the opacity to 25%

In the centre of the circle I added a knight on horseback and one of the dragons from When Knights Were Bold. My wonderful husband has been my protector since 1989 and I have always described him as my Knight in Shining Armour hence the text on the ribbon on top of the card. He is facing a number of battles as the moment and I will be by his side through it all (I am sure I can be a bit of a dragon at times too LOL)

To strengthen the Valentine's theme I added various elements from the following Kits

Once I had created my layout this was then printed and adhered to an 8" card blank. These scrapbook templates are often a perfect layout to create a large square card and I am having fun experimenting with them. Never in a million years did I think I would be able to create digital layouts and these templates make it so easy.

Happy New Year 2024

My goodness me..... I am so late wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

It is the 17th January already and the month is flying by.

Last year went by in a bit of a whirlwind. Craftiness went pretty much out of the window due to issues with arthritis in my hands, issues with my hubby and taking on extra work. This all meant that I had so little time to be creative and to be honest I felt that I lost myself and want to do better this year.

I have got so many cards and projects I have done that have not been blogged. I came off 2 of the Design Teams I was on as I felt like a terrible team member and was letting people down.

I am hoping that this year will be better and at the very least I want to catch up on blogging what I have made..... we shall have to wait and see.

I was writing out my Christmas cards in December and was so grateful that I made so many the year before or there would have been very few people receiving handmade Christmas cards. I truly hope that will not be the case this year.

If anyone is still out there following me I truly hope life is treating you well and that 2024 will be full of love, health and happiness for you and your families.

Woodland Hideaway

Over at
The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up it is the midway point of our challenge. That means it is the turn of the Merry Maidens to share some more fabulous Christmas cards.

The challenge theme is any Any Christmas Card or other December holiday with an optional twist of Into The Woods We Go. The lucky winner's prize is any 2 Winter or Christmas paper packs from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles

If you link up 2 or more cards to our challenge you will get a free digital paper sent to you that our intrepid leader Lisa of Decosse's Dynamite Doodles has designed.

My card this month is showcasing the gorgeous paper from Woodland Hideaway which is of the snowy cabin in the woods. I have never fancied skiing but always imagined that being in a ski resort with loads of snow around would be magical and this paper reminds me of that.

I wanted to add some sparkly snow so lots of loose glitter has bee used to highlight snowdrifts and swirling in the air. It is such a shame that glitter is so hard to photograph as this is so very sparkly.

The die cut deer was added to create a bit of foreground interest and then a peel off sticker added to match the silver card used for the matting layer.

The image on the paper is so very striking that the card needed very little else to complete it.

Digital papers and elements are fantastic to use in your projects. If they are good quality it is very easy to make a great card using a print out. I am loving using my new colour laser printer as it has opened so many more creative doors for me.

Love you Beary Much

Kate Hadfield is celebrating her 16th Anniversary of creating great digital products. To celebrate there is an Anniversary sale running from the 10th to 13th February with 25% off the whole store. This is the perfect opportunity to buy all those packs you have had in your wishlist.

In honour of Valentine's day Kate has created a fab set Lovey Dovey Toppers. This is available as pre-coloured Doodles and also digital stamps you can colour yourself.

As soon as I saw this set I knew I wanted to work with the little bear. I created a sign for him to hold and added a sentiment from Imagine That Digistamp.

The background has been created by adding the small heart overlay from Everyday Overlays onto a red background. I also added some tiny pink smiley hearts from the 3 hearts image from Lovey Dovey Toppers. I then added these randomly onto the overlay.

This whole image was then printed with a colour laser printer. I covered the card blank with a snakeskin effect black paper. I created a decoupage card by adding a second layer of the whole image popped up on foam squares. A 3rd layer was added with just the bear.

You can see this decoupage in more detail below.

I also decorated the inside of the card. The paper is a slightly marbled one from HOTP. The sentiment is a digital one, printed and coloured with a Promarker. I cut it with a scalloped edge die from CREAlies. The final touch was adding the 3 hearts with the smiley faces. I absolutely love them and so happy they are included.
