Duckling March GDT

I was honoured to be chosen as a Top 3 entry for Challenge 36 at Star Stampz Challenge Blog and invited to be a Guest Designer for the new challenge that starts today. The theme is For a Baby or Parents Expecting.

I selected this cute image Duckling March to work with.  I thought it was perfect for parents adding to their existing brood of little chicks and typed my own sentiment to suit before printing out.

I coloured this image with Promarkers, fine liner pens and pencils. Initially I had intended to make it suitable for a baby boy or girl but as I was selecting papers it seemed to more suited to the girl papers I had so it kind of decided for itself.

The main paper is is from a baby girl pack I had must be around 15 years ago now. I really liked the soft colours and this dictated the green cards used to mat the image and patterned border strip.

The pink baby girl paper is actually a holographic wrapping paper from Paperchase. The tone of pink changes as you tip the card in and out of the light so adds another element to it.

Finally the Baby Girl sentiment is a domed epoxy sticker. I think this and the border were from Let's Make Cards packs that I used to subscribe to.

As I write this I am stricken with Covid. I started to feel like I had a cold on Wednesday. By Thursday night I felt like it was more than that so took a test. It was a very faint line so did another one the following morning after having the most terrible nights sleep. Very high temperature and coughing which was making my throat constantly sore. It went strong pink line straight away. It has surprised me how in only a few days I feel so poorly. I have been lucky not to get it until now I guess..... Hopefully I will be fine after a few more days and feel less like a tired zombie.

Thankyou to Star Stampz for inviting me to be a Guest Designer and providing this lovely image to work with.

Baby Animals

It is time for another challenge at The Paper Funday.
Our challenges are always Anything Goes with an optional Twist.
The twist this time is "Cute Critters"

We are very fortunate to have 2 sponsors for each challenge this year which means we get to choose which artist we would like to work with. This really is great as it gives us double the choice. We have some amazing sponsors lined up this year, many of which are old favourites and some that are new to me.

This Months we are Sponsored by Polkadoodles and Eureka Stamps both of whom have a fabulous assortment of digital images and physical products.

I chose to work with this lovely image Baby Animals from Eureka Stamps. I noticed that in my card making I tended to favour baby cards for girls and not boys so thought this would be a perfect image to remedy that.

The 6" card base has been covered with recycled kraft card and I used this throughout for matting and layering. The background paper I have had for years and I have no idea what brand it is.

The image had been coloured with Promarkers and I used some coloured pencils for shading in the background. I added created a second layer to decoupage the elephant and this is popped up on foam pads. White gel pen was used to highlight the eyes and tusks.

The ribbon came from The Range many years ago and the sentiment is a digital freebie from Desert Diva. If you are in need of some fabulous sentiments Hannelie's are always good quality and she is very generous. This was from 2014 and is still on her blog to download along with hundreds of others.

I hope you will join myself and our fabulous Team over at the Paper Funday Challenge.

Welcome Little One

Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez runs a Progressive Freebie Challenge over on her Facebook group. You can use any image by Patricia to enter and then if you submit a card you can get a free image the month afterwards. I took part for the first time in April (but didn't get to blog it in time) and this is the card I made using this cute dinosaur hatching image.

I thought it would make a great card for welcoming a new baby and made it gender neutral in colours I thought would suit a dinosaur.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and added shading with Arteza pencils. I used a Spectrum Noir metallic marker for the spots which have a gentle shimmer to them.

The background paper is from the Spring Burst pack by Papermania and the glittery striped paper is from The Glitter Stack by DCVW. I am proud to say both are snippets as well as the green and brown cards used for layering the sentiment and image.

The sentiment is a freebie from MM Designs. They have not put anything new on their blog for a long time but this sentiments is still available to download HERE.

Finally I added some yellow buttons which have been threaded with some green twine.

New Baby Card

My Hubby asked me to make a card for a lady he knows well who is expecting a baby soon.

He didn't know at that stage if Mummy-to-be knew the sex of the baby so we went for a gender neutral approach and included pink, blue, green and yellow as the colours for the elements.

All papers used are from my scraps drawer. The card is 5 in size and I used a polka dot paper which has been distressed with an inkpad to knock the brightness back a little.

The layout of the card was from the last Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge. I am however too late to enter but wanted to thank them for the sketch anyway.

The base panel is some holographic card with stars on which provides a bit of twinkle and a nice contrast to the white circles that have been cut from the Nellie Snellen Flower Circles Dies.

All the dies are cut from 3 layers of white card layered onto one another and coloured with Promarkers, Flexmarkers, gel pens and Sakura clear glitter pens. This is a technique I had seen on a YouTube video that seems to make it into a 'Thicker' dimensional sticker and is a lot less fiddly to stick together with a Xyron sticker maker than adding 3d foam squares would have been.

The baby head and bottle are from a Sizzlits 4 die set. The baby booties are a Marianne Creatable dies My First Shoes and the Baby Clothes Line is a Sizzlits decorative strip. Most of these dies I have had for along time and it is the 1st time I have used them. The clothes line I am particularly pleased with as there are so many elements that can be used on their own.

Just after I had finished the card we found out that the baby is due to be a boy so I made it with a blue insert and matching envelope.

Card Size - A5
Dies - Sizzlits 4 Baby Die Set, Sizzlits Decorative Strip Baby Clothes Line, Nellie Snellen Flower Circles, Marianne Creatables My First Shoes
Colouring tools - Promarkers & Flexmarkers, Gel pens, Sakura Glitter pen
