K.I.S.S.I.N.G. in a tree for my Anniversary

 


It's time for another challenge over at The Paper Funday.
Our challenges are alway Anything Goes with an optional twist.
The twist this time is 'Friendship'


We are very fortunate to have 2 sponsors for each challenge this year which means we get to choose which artist we would like to work with. This is really great as it gives us double the choice. We are very lucky with the amazing sponsors that are lined up this year, many of which are old favourites and some that are new to me.

For this challenge I chose to work with this sweet image K-I-S-S-I-N-G. as I thought it would be lovely for an anniversary card for my hubby. We have been together for 33 years and although we didn't get married until nearly 13 years later we still celebrate the anniversary of us becoming a couple. Unfortunately things have been a little strained between us recently as my hubby is going through a difficult patch but we will work through it and I am sure it is only a temporary blip. Ultimately he is my best friend which also fits in with the challenge theme.

I coloured this image with Promarkers and a very fine brown liner pen to add bark detail onto the tree. As I am a sorry so and so I have lots of heart papers and shapes so pulled together my paper and ribbon and used black cardstock to add layers underneath the image. 

The sentiment is an old blog freebie from Sentiments 4 You which has unfortunately retired. I added some colour to the hearts and used a circle die to cut a black mat. This has then been added to the card with foam pads for dimension.

As a final touch I dragged out some peel off stickers (remember those?) which have a red heart outline and gold in the centre.

We Are a Perfect Fit

 



At Kate Hadfield Designs there are so many fabulous sets it is really easy to get inspired to use them. There are digital stamps which you can colour, coloured versions you can scrapbook or make into digital layouts. Papers, patterned overlays and doodles galore. No matter what your skill level there are so many goodies to play with.


In the Toy Box Stamps set there are 2 jigsaws, one is a complete 4x4 piece jigsaw and the other is pictured in the preview with 2 pieces separate. It inspired me to experiment with making this anniversary card based around the theme of 'perfect fit'



I used the complete jigsaw and overlaid the entwined hearts from the Lovey Dovey Doodads Stamps set. I use Affinity Photo to manipulate my images and you create layers in the order you wish to make the image more dominant. The hearts was placed as the foreground and jigsaw in the background. I lightened the background in a grey outline to make it less dominant as I definitely wanted the hearts to stand out more. Once I was happy with the positioning I printed it out. 

The background is coloured with Arteza Expert pencils and the hearts is Promarkers and Spectrum Noir Glitter markers over the top. You can apply these as a wash with a water brush and this adds sparkle and a muted version of the colour.

I cut 2 pieces out from the jigsaw and mounted the image onto black card. The 2 separate pieces were popped up on foam pads to add dimension.


The background paper is thin red card with a heart pattern from Everyday Overlays. I added to a plain white card blank and added some stickles glitter to a few of the hearts.


The sentiments I have made using my computer as I could not find anything quite right in my collection. I printed them out, cut into a banner shape and added a layer of black card underneath.

One of the most fabulous things about being in this Creative Team is that we have free rein to make anything we want to using the sets in the shop. This is amazing for inspiring creativity as there are so many amazing packs to play with. I feel very, very lucky to be able to have this opportunity.

Anniversary Love Cats

 


It is time for another challenge for Team B at Through The Craft Room Door


The Sponsor for this challenge is Sherry West Art and the prize is 2 digital images from her store


Sherry is just in the process of setting up a new store which is due around the middle of October.

For this challenge I chose to work with this cute image Love Cats.
I coloured the image with Promarkers and used pencils to create a sunset scene in the background. I chose a set of 72 Arteza Expert pencils for my birthday from my sister and cracked them open. I'm not entirely sure my skills are there yet but I will keep practicing. They are blendable pencils and I was really pleased that I was able to use a Promarker blending pen on them to soften the lines. 


I used the latest sketch #630 from Sketch Saturday for the layout. 

I used an A4 sheet of a deep red card for the base. To this I added some offcuts of papers. The small red hearts I have distressed the edges with a black ink pad. The black paper has hearts that are flocked so it feels lovely. I used a Fiskars punch on the edge and added some self adhesive ribbon.

I matted the image on a scrap of black card and raised on 3D foam. The anniversary sentiment I layered onto a scrap of black card and added a small red heart puffy sticker. Finally following the layout I added a sentiment to the top left hand corner and satin fabric heart at the bottom right of the image.

Happy Anniversary

 


It is my 49th birthday on the 28th and also our 19th wedding anniversary. I was dreading turning 30 so my husband married me so I could count 30 birthdays and however many wedding anniversaries. As I have got older I can't believe I felt that way so many years ago.... I think looking back it was to do with other things that weren't quite right in my life and I transferred it to a big birthday. Silly really.... I am much happier being my age now than when I was younger. Thankfully me and Paul have been together 31 years through lots of ups and downs and we are still very happy with one another.


The starting point for this card was the Heart Confetti Edge'able die from Crafter's Companion. I had seen this on several projects when it first came out and bought it specifically to make a card for my hubby.

I have some large sheets of card from Aldi that are 24cm x 34cm wide. This die is 15cm high so I cut the red card to 15x34cm. I cut the edge'able die from a scrap of black card and then folded the card to suit the placement of the black section so the red from the inside came through. This is then adhered to the front section and the finished card is like an A5 size on it's side.

I have used some heart paper in pink and added some of the black hearts that are leftover from the die cut edge. The heart holographic 'ribbon' is a scrap of paper that has been cut so the heart was placed in the centre.

Stamper's Delights do a Progressive Freebie challenge on Facebook. If you have made a project using one of their images then the following month you get a free digital set, sometimes two.

The image is Cupid 3 from Stamper's Delights. It comes with and without wings and there is a really good value Cupid Honey Bundle which has loads of variations of Cupid images on sale for only £5 at the moment. I have coloured using a combination of Promarkers & Spectrum Noir pens and a very fine black Sharpie pen for fine details. On the wings I have used a grey pencil to add details to the feathers and then lots of glitter to make the wings really sparkle. A gold gel pen has been added to the swirls in the hair. The image has been fussy cut and mounted onto foam squares.

The circle sentiment is also from Stamper's Delights. I think it may have been an old blog freebie as it doesn't seem to be available any longer. I used the same markers and glitter as the image and added some bling to cover some little stars. The sentiment is from Imagine That Digi Stamps and is from an older set called Sweet Tea.

I added some little heart shaped gems to the black hearts and the sentiment and faux stitching in a silver gel pen to the black edge of the die cut.

Silver Wedding Anniversary



This is a card I made for my wonderful next door neighbours who have just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

I wanted to make something quite simple and elegant so opted for a more classic style than I would normally make.

I started out with A4 card creased to make an A5 card blank. I layered silver metallic card onto this. I used a glittery vellum with a small flower onto white card to make it more opaque. I used two different ribbons and thread through a belt buckle. The ribbon ends were stuck down onto the back of this panel with double sided tape before sticking to the silver card.

Using a Spellbinders Nestabilities die Heart Squares  I cut a panel from a glittery silver card. To this I added a heart shape which has been embossed with a Hearts embossing folder from Crafts-Too. The 25 numbers are cut for the same silver card using the Sizzix Round-a-bout alphabet die set.

The sentiment is from my stash and layered onto silver card. Finally all the laters have been out together with oodles of 3d foam squares to add dimension.

We gave them a gift of a Silver Anniversary rosebush and pot from the local garden centre and hopefully they will keep it alive for many years more as well as their happy marriage.

Happy Anniversary


This card has been made using a free image Valentine Derek which is from the monthly Outlawz Progressive Freebie challenge. This has been kindly donated from Dr. Digis House of Stamps.

I coloured Derek with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and fussy cut with my beloved tiny Fiskars scissors. They are so precise and perfect for cutting out tiny details.

I used a shaped card template which is free at Cuddly Buddly Crafts. The finished size is 13.5cm square so I sized the image to 9.5cm to fit the height in the centee of the top heart layer.

After cutting all the layers from the template the only thing left was to add a sentiment. I am planning to give this to my beloved.

My hubby and I have been together 30 years in July. We are going on a cruise through the Norwegian Fjords, onto Iceland and then stopping off in Dublin on the way back to Southampton. Hubby was 50 in December and this was a present for his birthday as he wants to go to Iceland. The added bonus is that we will be on the ship for our anniversary which makes it all the more timely.

It is not our wedding anniversary then as he 'road tested' me for 13 years before we tied the knot in Las Vegas on my 30th birthday which was in September.
