Sunset Wedding Guest DT

 


One of my cards was chosen as a Top 5 Creation at Scrapping4funChallenge and I was invited to be a Guest Designer for the new challenge that starts today.

The prompt is something beginning with the letter W


This was perfect timing for me as my sister in law has just got married and I needed to make a card for the bridge and groom.

It is not the first marriage for either of them so they wanted to get married on the beach at sunset. They got married in the registry office first and then a sunset ceremony. The attendees were only their children so it was a very private ceremony which was just how they wanted it to be.

Knowing the plans I wanted to create a card which had a silhouette of the happy couple with the backdrop of a sunset in a heart.

The photo has been taken from a family holiday we all went on in 2019 to Tenerife. This has been printed on a Lustre finish photo paper which has a lovely sheen to it. Digitally I placed a template of the heart shape over it so we could get the placement of the sun setting directly above the joined hands,

I found this lovely silhouette of a bride and groom at Clipart Library which I printed onto printer paper then adhered it to some black card. I then used my trusty Fiskars embroidery scissors and fussy cut. I wasn't sure if I would be able to retain the detail so was very pleased with my cutting.

The base of the card has been covered with a lovely wrapping paper from Paperchase which I positioned so that the sentiment would be top centre. Paperchase has long been a source of really beautiful papers that are really good quality and gorgeous designs. You get the equivalent of 8 sheets of A4 paper from one sheet for between £1 and £4 depending on the type of paper you choose. I don't get to go very often but rarely come out empty handed when I do.....

Finally I die cut a Congratulations sentiment from silver card to match the holographic text.

Make Sweet Music Always & Forever

 


This wedding card is a commission for a very good friend and neighbour. This is for me the very best reason to make a card as it incorporates so many of the things the recipients like the most and of course the very best reason to make a card (for a romantic like me) a wedding.

The brief was Shabby Chic, wedding colours are navy, pale blue and pale pink. They like David Bowie, Star Wars and have a Bassett Hound.

Now if I am honest I thought I would not be able to include all that but got my thinking cap on and suggested a jukebox with records including their names, song titles and even included a nod to their dog and Star Wars with the Cantina Band. 

The jukebox is a clipart image from HiClipart. I coloured with Promarkers and added some pencil lines to the records and some silver gel marker.

The base of navy blue card has been covered with a pale blue paper from my stash which had a distressed painted effect on it. I tore the edges and roughed them up shabby chic style. I had the perfect ribbon & lace piece in my collection which accents the style.

The wedding sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva. Hannelie has hundreds of sentiments on her blog and is so generous with them. I have matted this on the Intricate Trellis die from Crafter's Companion and accented with some gems and paper flowers.

The base for the records is a digital stamp from Rhoda Design Studio. This is freebie that is still available to download. I used the main one with hearts to add the bride and groom's names. In my graphics program I created my own version with the same dimensions so it had a clear centre giving more space for text. You can see in the image below a closeup of the text on each one. This will make it so personal to Sarah & Stuart. All the music elements are popped up on foam pads.



The bottom sentiment is one I created myself. I have included here in JPG and PNG formats for you to download if you wish to. If you do use them I would be grateful if you could give credit to me and link back to my blog as I would love to see how you have used it.






I added some smaller paper flowers to frame the sentiment. 
The final touch was to punch some musical notes with an EK Sucess punch. The inside has a printed verse and I used punch to add 2 entwined hearts.

When I gave it to my friend she was absolutely delighted with it. It is the wedding on the 29th May and I really do hope Sarah & Stuart 'Make Sweet Music Always & Forever'

The Proposal



Stamper's Delights holds a Progressive Freebie challenge on Facebook every month. If you make a card with any of their images then the following month you can request that set for free. I love Janice's images and you get lots of images and sentiments when you take part so it is a win win.

My Sister in Law has just got engaged and this was the perfect excuse to make a card using The Proposal which is an older image from Stamper's Delights and no longer on the website.

I have coloured using Promarkers and pencils for shading and hair details. The colours of blue and yellow have special significance for them so I used them as the main colours and gold as the metallic accent.

The heart paper is a wrapping paper from Paperchase. They have so many lovely papers that are really thick quality. For £1 tor £2 you get the equivalent of 8 sheets os A4 paper so they are fantastic value..

The mat behind the image is from a set of dies that have 12 nested scalloped edge squares that range in size from 2.5cm to 13.5cm so are really handy. Not many go up to the larger sizes.

I used the latest sketch 909 from Stella Says Sketch for the layout.


The ribbon is actually 2 ribbons on top of one another. The sentiment is a metallic Dufex one that has been in my stash forever. The champagne glasses is a mini embossing folder from Cuttlebug which has been cut using a Spellbinders scallop edge die. I embellished this with some gems and Stickles glitter glue. Finally I added a gem to the ring in the image as it had to be a big sparkly one.

It was nice to make a card for such a happy occasion and the both loved it.
