Gingerbread Man

For Day 8 of Beccy's Place Month long Holiday Card challenge the prompt was the letter G.
I have chosen G for gingerbread man as I LOVE gingerbread men and they are not just for Christmas!

The little guy is a digital stamp from the Festive Fare Sweet Treats pack by Kate Hadfield Designs. This is available as a stamp pack, a pre-coloured Doodles pack and a specially priced pack of all the designs.

At Kate Hadfield Designs there are so many fabulous sets it is really easy to get inspired to use them. There are digital stamps which you can colour, coloured versions you can scrapbook or make into digital layouts. Papers, patterned overlays and doodles galore. No matter what your skill level there are so many goodies to play with.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and used a blending brush to blend two browns together. I find this is a good way to add a stippling texture to thinks like fur, brick walls and cookies. I decorated with  glitter glue, glitter embedded gems for buttons and flat backed pearls for eyes.

The card has been covered with a lovely paper from Craft Sensations which has a metallic green diamond embedded into it. The gingerbread border is from a years old magazine freebie. I cut part of the design following the wavy lines and used as an accent to break up the checkerboard background.

Over at Kate Hadfield Designs there is lots going on. Kate is really generous with her freebies which are readily available. If you sign up to the newsletter you get access to an extra subscriber area the Doodle Den where there are loads more freebies. There is a gallery full of projects by the Creative Team and customers and so much inspiration for crafters and teachers. I would highly recommend you pop over there and join in the fun.

Letter for Santa

For Day 14 of Beccy's Place Month long Holiday Card challenge the prompt was the letter L.
I have chosen L for letter & letterbox.

My image has been made by combining a colouring page that was a freebie from Meljen's Designs who is now retired. This provided the frame, the heading and the cookies.

The sweet little Postie is a free image from a recent find of mine Artybarb who has loads of free digital images on her Facebook site. She is definitely with checking out.

Finally the Santa Stop Here is an old sentiment from Limited Runs Digital Stamps. I coloured the whole image in Promarkers and some really fine tipped markers from The Works. I added some accents in gold gel pen on the cookies, holly leaves and swirls.

For the layout I used the latest sketch 686 from Sketch Saturday. I thought the dimensions of the rectangle would be perfect for An A5 Card.

The card base has been covered with a red and white snowflake paper and then I added some small offcuts from the same pad for the flag sections.

I raided my self adhesive ribbons for the corner stripes and added a sentiment and a gold snowflake brad for circle embellishments.

JOY Birds

Over at The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up it is the midway point of our challenge. That means it is the turn of the Merry Maidens to share some more fabulous Christmas cards

This paper pack Vintage Damask 2 Red & White Collection designed by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles is up for grabs to the lucky winner who follows the optional twist to feature the Colours of Red & White on your card.

The Sponsor for this challenge is Imagine That Digistamp who is offering the fabulous prize of 3 digistamps (upto $14 value) from her store.

For my card I chose to use JOY Birds set. I just loved the jolly characters and knew it would work really well as the main focal point on a red and white card. I coloured the image with Promarkers and added lots of glitter glue accents.

The candy cane paper is from Holiday Hoopla Patterned Papers Set 2 by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. This has been printed onto glossy photo paper. I isolated 2 of the candy canes and enlarged them to use as embellishments. Red card stock has been used throughout for the matting and layering.

Finally the sentiment from the digi set comes as a black outline or a coloured version. As it is candy cane colours I used this coloured version with it's pop of red it was the perfect finishing touch.

I do hope you will take part in our challenge and look forward to seeing your creations.

Christmas Brads Snowman

For Day 12 of Beccy's Place Month long Holiday Card challenge the prompt was to make a shaped card. I have a Christmas card made with a free download from Kate Hadfield Designs

Pop over to this post on Kate's Blog and you can download these cute Christmas Brads. They are intended to be used as a digital element on a page but I have resized them to 5.5cm across and printed onto glossy photo paper and they are so crisp and clear. Just goes to show that the files are such high quality they can be used as a main image too.

I used a large die set Sparkling Season Doily and cut the silver card blank on the fold with the outline die from the set. This is a large die and the card measures just a fraction under 6". The white snowflake doily has been cut from a 300gsm card so it is really substantial. I was really happy that I have my electric Gemini machine as it cut both of these large dies together perfectly crisp and in just one pass. It still impresses me how good it is.

The dark blue layer has been cut from a thinner card using another die from the set. I then added a plain circle of white card and distressed with a small black ink pad.

The image was then added to this. The shape of the die really enhances the brad and creates the perfect frame.

Finally I added some small blue gems and a foiled sentiment from my stash.

One of the most fabulous things about being in this Creative Team is that we have free rein to make anything we want to using the sets in the shop. This is amazing for inspiring creativity as there are so many amazing packs to play with. I feel very, very lucky to be able to have this opportunity.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and I added a glittery santa hat sticker from The Works to make it extra Christmassy.

The green tree paper is from a 6"x6" origami paper pad which has lots of small print designs on so perfect for smaller size cards. I added an offcut of a sparkly plaid paper onto the bottom and covered the join with a glittery green washi tape.

Finally I added some gems onto the bauble and a foiled sentiment.

Snowman Heart Cupcake

Day 5 at Beccy's Place Month of Holiday cards has the letter E as our prompt.

I have chosen Embossing paste which is the snow on my image.

Snowman Heart Cupcake is a digital image from Limited Runs. This was coloured in November last year and I made a digital card with it for a DT project. I had put it to one side and forgotten about it until now.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers. The starry sky background was added using a technique I learned from one of Beccy's tutorials where you create a halo like effect around a star by layering different shades of blue down. I the added gel pen stars, stickles glitter glue and a clear sparkle pen overlay.

The embossing paste has been used to make the snowlike frosting on the top of the cupcake and snow on the bottom. Blue stickles has been used on the 2nd layer of frosting and clear stickles on the bottom. I cut the image out and used a distressing tool to roughen the edges of this and the blue mat.

I used sketch 531 from Try Stamping on Tuesday for the layout.

The card has been covered with a pale blue patterned paper. I then added a strip of white card which has been treated with a Fiskars border punch. To this I added an offcut of snowflake vellum.

I added a foiled sentiment from Hunkydory, a bow made with an offcut of ribbon and some super sparkly snowflake stickers from The Works
