Toy Stocking

 


It is time for another challenge at Through The Craft Room Door.
This is the last challenge of the year so the whole team are taking part this time so lots and lots of inspiration for everyone.


We are sponsored this time by Jan's Digi Stamps and the prize is a $10 voucher for the store. Jan has some fabulous images to suit every occasion so this is a lovely prize.



I chose this lovely image from the Toy Stocking set. I just loved the little teddy bear peeking out, he has such an adorable expression.


I coloured the image with Promarkers, gel pens and added lots and lots of glitter on the stocking fur. I used a blender pen to stipple the teddy bear and this added texture to the fur and adds a two-tone effect by bringing in the lighter colour layered underneath.

I used a sketch from Outlawz Sketch Wednesday challenge for the layout.


Following the sketch I matted the image onto some green card. The base is a sheet of A4 card and I covered this with some snowflake patterned paper. The green tree paper is a strip from my Christmas paper scraps which was a magazine freebie. I matched this to a gold self adhesive ribbon with a tree pattern,

The green spotty embellishments are Card Candi which came from Craftwork Cards. I bought so many in lots of colours. They look like a brad but are just a circle of cardboard which I mount onto a foam square so add dimension but not too thick. The sentiment is a recycled one from an old Christmas card. It is so glittery far too pretty to throw away. I trimmed it and added a scrap of gold card as a layer.

Rory's Birthday Party

 


It is time for another challenge for Team B at Through The Craft Room Door


The Sponsor for this challenge is Color of Love (Formerly Lacy Sunshine)

The prize is 3 Digital Stamps from their store.


I chose Rory's Birthday Party to work with and coloured the image with Promarkers in mainly bright primary colours. Quite by chance whilst I was making it I found out it was the neighbour over the roads little girls birthday yesterday so I ended up personalising it to give to her.

The base of the card has been made with a sheet of A4 card. To this I added a striped paper in co-ordinating colours and distressed the edges with an inkpad.

The image has been matted onto red card and I have used my favourite red spotty lacy ribbon. I have used this so many times over the years. I love how versatile it is looking pretty and feminine on some projects, then bold and bright on others.

The die is from a new sentiment set that came from Crafter's Companion. There are different sentiments with the dies to layer the embellishments on top. I have cut these out with scraps of shimmery card and some red glitter card. I replaced the dot on the I with a heart gem.

I added personalisation with some letter stickers and a rub-on number. Finally I added a cupcake charm. Her Aunty made her the most amazing cake and she brought some over for us which was a lovely thing to do. With lockdown we have become a lot closer to the immediate neighbours and many have children. It is lovely to see how their individual personalities are developing and how even though we don't have children they have embraced us into their lives. We are very lucky to have so many lovely neighbours who have become friends.

Tree House Xmas

 



It is time for another challenge for Team B at Through The Craft Room Door


The Sponsor for this challenge is Hetty Clare Art and they have a prize for the lucky winner.


I have used the super cute Tree House Xmas digi and coloured it with Promarkers, a gold Sharpie and white gel pen. The sky has been coloured using a fabulous technique 'Colouring a Night Scene' from Beccy's Place. There is a really detailed step by step tutorial on her site for this and many other techniques and fancy folds and definitely worth checking out as an amazing resource. 

I used this sketch 389 from Sketch Saturday for the layout. The base is a sheet of A4 card. The blue paper is a vellum from the Glittering Snowflakes 12"x12" pad at Crafter's Companion. It was an expensive purchase but I got a really good discount on it and used birthday pennies. I have a lot of Christmas paper but very little vellum so reasoned that it was a sensible purchase overall.


The sentiment is a Sizzix Sizzlits die which I have not used before. I have catalogued all my dies and embossing folders in a program called Evernote. This makes it super easy for me to find whatever tools I have in a specific think like snowflakes or butterflies. In the individual note I have added a photo of any project I have made using that tool. I am embarrassed to admit that over the years I have bought a lot of items that I have never before used so I am on a mission to try and make a concerted effort to use a more diverse range of items rather than reverting to some of my favourites.

I have used lots and lots of stickles glitter glue throughout adding red to the baubles, silver to the stars and snoflakes on the vellum. Stardust has been used liberally on the snow and to highlight the die cut.

It is also the 8th Annual Month of Holiday Cards challenge at Beccy's Place. This really helped me to kickstart my cardmaking last year when I left my job so I am really excited to take part again this year. I am entering this card as B with Blue, Brown & Baubles.

Reindeer Gift



It is time for another challenge for Team B at Through The Craft Room Door

As a store they have several collections that they sell both physical stamps and digital. 
I have used a digital image from the QKR Stampede section of the store called Reindeer Gift.

I have been making a lot of Christmas cards recently and my go to colour schemes are red/green or blues. I decided to do something a little different with this card. The sketch I used for the layout is from the current challenge at Daisy Chain Challenge. I rotated it and stretched it to fit a rectangular card.



I started off with the patterned paper with deer on it and used the colours of aqua, turquoise and kraft. The card base is a sheet of A4 white card. To this I have added a layer of a darker shade of aqua card. The deer paper is from a 6x6" pad Christmas Blues by Dovecraft. I matched up with a glittered snowball paper which is from Let It Snow also by Dovecraft. Both papers are very, very old.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers to match the colours from the papers. I decoupaged the reindeer and bow and mounted in foam squares for added dimension. The deer has been matted onto kraft card on thinner foam pads so it made it not too thick. The die is Classical Frame from Crafter's Companion. It is one of the very first dies I ever bought from them.... 

Following the layout of the sketch I added a scrap of ribbon and some snowflakes I assembled with different layers. The top one is s Sizzlits Cut n' Emboss die with a snowflake on top that was rescued from and old Christmas card. The aqua snowflakes are pre-printed die cuts but I have no idea where they came from, probably a magazine freebie. The shiny silver one is an embellishment that was from a Christmas decoration I got from the poundshop years ago. I took it apart and there were different colours and beads as well, all added to my stash. Finally the white ones are funky foam shapes that I had a long time ago. The sentiment has been recycled from a shop bought card.

Anniversary Love Cats

The Sponsor for this challenge is Sherry West Art and the prize is 2 digital images from her store


Sherry is just in the process of setting up a new store which is due around the middle of October.

For this challenge I chose to work with this cute image Love Cats.
I coloured the image with Promarkers and used pencils to create a sunset scene in the background. I chose a set of 72 Arteza Expert pencils for my birthday from my sister and cracked them open. I'm not entirely sure my skills are there yet but I will keep practicing. They are blendable pencils and I was really pleased that I was able to use a Promarker blending pen on them to soften the lines. 


I used the latest sketch #630 from Sketch Saturday for the layout. 

I used an A4 sheet of a deep red card for the base. To this I added some offcuts of papers. The small red hearts I have distressed the edges with a black ink pad. The black paper has hearts that are flocked so it feels lovely. I used a Fiskars punch on the edge and added some self adhesive ribbon.

I matted the image on a scrap of black card and raised on 3D foam. The anniversary sentiment I layered onto a scrap of black card and added a small red heart puffy sticker. Finally following the layout I added a sentiment to the top left hand corner and satin fabric heart at the bottom right of the image.

Deacon Elf Presents

 


It is time for another challenge for Team B at Through The Craft Room Door

I absolutely adore Bugaboo Stamps images and over the years have built up quite a collection. I chose to use Deacon Elf Presents to make a Christmas card.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers. I added a little smile to the face as I am not overly keen on expressionless faces. I used lots of Stickles glitter glue in red and gold and added some gems to the spotty gift and stars onto the hat. I went round the outside of the image with a light grey Flexmarker and fussy cut. This is then mounted onto some thin 3d foam squares.

I used the latest card sketch from Stick It Down for the layout.



The base of the card is a sheet of white A4 cardstock. I have used scraps of patterned papers and cards for the patterned papers, adding a strip of candy cane stripe washi tape to the centre gold panel. The gold strip, red paper and sentiment have been recycled from shop bought Christmas cards I have received.

I used a Nestabilities die to cut the mats for the image. I used the largest one to cut the spotty paper layer and then used the inside edge of the template for the gold layer and the outside edge for the green. These were drawn with a pencil and cut by hand. I think they can quite often make a nicer size layer than using the next size up or down die.

On a previous card I had used some ribbon 3d stickers that were shaped like gift boxes and decided to have a go at making my own. I used some scraps of card and wrapped some ribbons round them with a contrast on the box 'lid' and a small piece of ribbon for a bow. I am really pleased with how they came out and they add a lovely texture to the card.
