Red Bauble

The prompt for Day 25 at Beccy's Place Month long holiday challenge is the letter V.
I have chosen Vellum.

The card started off with the metallic red bauble central panel which has been recycled from a card that I have received. I have added gold peel off stickers between the dotted lines, a red ribbon bow and a small diecut sentiment tag. More gold has been added to the frame and lots of gems and pearls to embellish the bauble and flowers.

On the red card base I have added a panel of holly patterned vellum paper. As this paper is translucent you can see the red base through this so it adds a bit more colour to it. The corners are embellished with metallic gold thick cardstock stickers.

Holiday Penguin

The prompt for Day 11 at Beccy's Place Month long holiday challenge is the letter I.
I have chosen Ice

The background of this card has been recycled from a Christmas card I have received and I added some torn layers of glitter paper to create snowdrifts.

Holiday Penguin was a CDAC freebie from Starry Nights Studio that has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I added stickles glitter glue to the trim & pompom on the hat.

The tree is a corrugated card diecut I have had in my stash for a good many years. I have wrapped it with tinsel which is a fibre that is actually part of a Christmas themed hair scrunchie. They are held together with elastic and when you removed that there is about 3 metres of thin tinsel in each one. I have enough of this to probably last me a lifetime.....

The pot has been covered with a scrap of cardstock. I added a puffy fabric star with a red star sticker. Finally I added silver peel off stickers for the sentiment and snowflakes.

Card Details :-

Size - 6" x 6"
Tools - Promarkers, Flexmarkers
Embellishments - Stickles glitter glue, die cut tree, tinsel trim, peel off stickers, puffy fabric star

Two-Fer Trees

Day 23 at Beccy's Place Beccy's Place Month long holiday challenge is the letter T.
Inspired by the cards that Beccy made also day 17's off the page card I made this Two-Fer card with a Tree (2 t's.... go me)

In all the years I have made cards I swore that I would not make 2 cards exactly the same so I used the image to make 2 cards with different colouring.

The tree is a really big one that was on the front of an old Christmas card. It is foiled and has loads of glitter on it so would have been a real waste to throw that away.

I fussy cut the tree and split it into 2 pieces lengthways. The patterned background paper is actually wrapping paper. Paperchase is a store I love to visit and they have some amazing wrapping papers. One sheet of paper is the same size as 8 sheets of A4 paper and a great way of increasing your paper stash for a reasonable price. Obviously not suitable for scrapbooking but perfectly okay to use for cardmaking.

I have added a star to each which is a foam base and a glittery cardstock sticker on the top.

The sentiment is a digital freebie I have had from Birds Cards. I can't find on the blog but there is still loads of freebie digitals and SVG files on there.

I have to admit before taking part in these challenges I would never have considered using one image and splitting into 2 cards. It is opening my eyes to a whole new way of looking at things and I have got loads of Christmas cards made.

Card Details :-

Size - DL (4'' x 8.24")
Digital Stamp - Merry Christmas to You from Birds Cards
Embellishments - Funky Foam Star, cardstock sticker

Noel

The prompt for Day 16 at Beccy's Place Month long holiday challenge is the letter N.
I have chosen Noel.

The starting point for this card was the central panel which is a sentiment that has been recycled from a Christmas card I have received.

The gold and silver theme has been carried through the rest of the card.

The panel has been mounted onto gold paper and then onto silver glitter card.

The card base is a large scalloped edge one. One of my favourite things to do with this card is to add card candi dots in alternating colours around the edge. These are raised on small foam squares.

Quite a simple card to put together but I am happy to recycle a shop bought card and make a large statement card.

I do hope that I am demonstrating just how many fabulous elements can be recycled from old Christmas cards, tags, gift bags and Christmas crackers. They are all great sources of free stash and you are doing your bit for the environment too.

Card Details :-

Size - 8" x 8"
Embellishments - Card Candi from Craftwork Cards

Afternoon Ride

Today it is the birthday of a very good friend of ours. One of his major hobbies is riding one of his 3 motorbikes and I always try to incorporate his hobbies into a personalised card for him.

I recently won a prize from Fred She Said Designs and chose Afternoon Ride as I knew it would make a great card for Pete.

Th image is coloured with Promakers, Flexmarkers and a silver gel pen for the metallic accents.

I used the current Stella Says Sketch 719 from the Catch the Bug challenges

The metallic paper I have had in my stash for years. The motorcycle sentiment is from Elegant Wordart by Bethany. She has created many fabulous word arts over the years and although she doesn't any longer there are still loads of freebies on her blog.

Following the layout I added scraps of card for the banner sections and typed a personal sentiment. All elements are mounted on dark blue sparkly paper. Finally I added some blue star shaped gems to accent.

Card Details :-

Size - A5
Sentiment - Freebie from Elegant Wordart
Tools - Promarkers, Flexmarkers, silver gel pen
Embellishments - Star gems

Winter Wishes

The prompt for Day 22 at Beccy's Place Month long holiday challenge is the letter S. I have chosen Snowflake.

The background card and silver snowflake have been recycled from cards I have received. There is so much glitter on the snowflake I was covered in it. Far too pretty to throw away which is why I love recycling elements from shop bought cards.

The white glittered snowflake is a die cut from I pack I bought at a craft show at the NEC years and years ago.

The sentiment is a foiled one that came from Craftwork Cards.

Finally I added a large blue gem in the centre of the snowflake to enhance the blue background.

Card Details :-

Size - 6" x 6"
Embellishments - Gems

Red Nose Reindeer Imagine That Guest DT

I was chosen as a Top 2 winner at Imagine That Digistamp challenge 9 with my Lorie's Peppermint Mocha card and I was invited to be a Guest Designer for challenge 11.

For this card I have used the image from Red Nose Reindeer and a sentiment from Tree With Presents. Please take a look at these and the many other fab sets Kris has in her store.

The card has been made using the 2nd sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2

The card front is covered with a striped paper from Docrafts with a panel of snowflake paper from Doodlebug.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers with Stickles glitter glue to accent the holly, bells & red nose. Gems have been added as the red berries. The self adhesive ribbon is from Docrafts and the poinsettia ensemble is die cut flowers from Craftwork cards which have been layered together.

The banner is a Bunting die from Joanna Sheen which has been raised up onto 3d foam.
