Gingerbread Twins

At Kate Hadfield Designs there are so many fabulous sets it is really easy to get inspired to use them. There are digital stamps which you can colour, coloured versions you can scrapbook or make into digital layouts. Papers, patterned overlays and doodles galore. No matter what your skill level there are so many goodies to play with.

One of the most fabulous things about being in this Creative Team is that we have free rein to make anything we want to using the sets in the shop. This is amazing for inspiring creativity as there are so many amazing packs to play with. I feel very, very lucky to be able to have this opportunity.

This card has been made using the Festive Fare Sweet Treats set of Doodles. There are loads of images of traditional Christmas food like Mince pies, fruit cake, mulled wine and of course my favourite gingerbread men.

This card has been made using a sketch from Kendra's Card Challenge. This is the first time I am taking part in such a project. Every quarter Kendra provides a PDF which has a cutting plan for several cards using 6 sheets of 6"x6" paper. This time there are 17 card sketches for A2 size cards which are slightly smaller than the A6 cards we would normally make as a small card in the UK. This layout is sketch 2

This sketch allowed you free reign to add papers that were not on the cutting plan. I used a green and red check for the main background and raided my black scraps for the gold metallic star card. The tree paper has been matted onto a scrarpof black glitter paper to match.

The gingerbread men have been printed onto a thin paper specifically for colour laser printers so I then stuck this to some scrap card to strengthen them. Fussy cut around the edges and used a brown Promarker to colour the white cut edges. You have to be careful to have a light touch to stop the marker seeping into the image but it is a much nicer finish than having a thick white edge. These were then added to the card with thin foam pads.

As a final touch I used some green stickles glue on the buttons and dotted some white gel pen onto the eyes. The sentiment is a die cut one from Papermania.

Over at Kate Hadfield Designs there is lots going on. Kate is really generous with her freebies which are readily available. If you sign up to the newsletter you get access to an extra subscriber area the Doodle Den where there are loads more freebies. There is a gallery full of projects by the Creative Team and customers and so much inspiration for crafters and teachers. I would highly recommend you pop over there and join in the fun.

  1. Cute gingerbread men Mandy! The stickles on the gumdrop buttons is a nice touch, it gives them some sparkle and dimension. I like all the layering and different paper elements you added too, it's a great mix of colours and patterns. Very festive.
