At Kate Hadfield Designs there are so many fabulous sets it is really easy to get inspired to use them. There are digital stamps which you can colour, coloured versions you can scrapbook or make into digital layouts. Papers, patterned overlays and doodles galore. No matter what your skill level there are so many goodies to play with.
One of the most fabulous things about being in this Creative Team is that we have free rein to make anything we want to using the sets in the shop. This is amazing for inspiring creativity as there are so many amazing packs to play with. I feel very, very lucky to be able to have this opportunity.
For this card I chose to use the yummy Christmas cake from Festive Fare Sweet Treats.
When I was growing up my parents did not have much money but always made a real effort at Christmas to have treats and goodies such as a tin of Quality Street or Roses, sherry trifle and Christmas Cake. Ours was never a posh one like in this image though. One like this was something to dream of and I never have had one as an adult as my hubby doesn't like this kind of fruit cake :(
I covered the blank card with a red spotty paper and then added a panel of the green and red which I matted on gold metallic card. The holly patterned paper is from my scraps box which was recycled from a card I had received. The image was matted on gold to match and I popped this up on foam pads.
The sentiment is from the Winterberry collection box. It has a red border so trimmed it down and matted onto gold card. I added some red ribbon from this kit and popped on foam pads.
Kate is really generous with her freebies which are readily available. If you sign up to the newsletter you get access to an extra subscriber area the Doodle Den where there are loads more freebies. There is a gallery full of projects by the Creative Team and customers and so much inspiration for crafters and teachers. I would highly recommend you pop over there and join in the fun.

Thank you for sharing the memories of your childhood Christmas Mandy, it actually sounds a lot like the ones I remember. My mum made an iced Christmas cake every year too. She used a plastic holly sprig to decorate it, which I think she still has and still uses!
ReplyDeleteYour card is wonderful. I really like the traditional colours, particularly the lovely gold trim.
Cheers,
Beccy
