Vintage Christmas Stocking

I recently made a digital card using this image 'Vintage Christmas Stocking' for my DT work at 12 Months of Christmas. Is it part of my assignment that I need to use the digital papers that Lisa produces. I cannot print in colour at the moment so I have been making digital cards by colouring the image, scanning it in and then using that to make the final digital card.

This of course then means that I already have an image coloured and ready to make a physical card. Win win in my book

Just before the pandemic closed the world down my sister had ordered this embossing folder from the USA as a gift for me. It was completely sold out in the UK and I had found one on Amazon but from the USA. I thought it had got lost in transit as it was months later when she said she had it for me and sent it with my birthday cards in September. I have been really busy with a big Christmas card order for a friend which needed to be posted to Slovakia so hadn't had time to play with it... until now.

When I coloured this image by Pattie's Creations in the back of my mind I could see that it would look fab on this embossing folder Studded Leather.  The image had already been coloured with Promarkers and I'd added gold stickles glitter to the intersections.

Day A at Beccy's Place Month of Holiday cards suggests lots of prompts starting with the letter A. One of these was an A frame card. I already had the red square card blank on my desk so turned it to make it an A frame card instead of a standard opening one.

I used a layer of metallic gold card to act as frame. I embossed a piece of white card and cut it as wide as I could, then matted onto a piece of red card. The image has been fussy cut leaving a small border of white and then popped up on foam squares.

I had a magazine freebie which had a collection of papers, stamps and elements from the Poinsettia Perfection range at Crafter's Companion. The sentiment was taken from there.

This then gave me the inspiration to use my new dies and flower foaming supplies from Crafter's Companion that I had bought with birthday pennies. The foam is a lot thinner than the old craft foam. The flowers  kept curling up in my fingers as it was so clingy with static so was a bit fiddly. One of the green 'leaves' would not stay in place and has twisted behind a red petal. I added some holographic metallic gold holly leaves that were from a garland I bought at the range which I am taking apart for other projects. This flower adds so much texture and I am really pleased with it. I can see me using them a lot.

Finally I added some gold glitter at each intersection in the embossed background that was left on show. I love the effect this has given and I am so happy my sister bought this for me. It was worth the search and waiting for it.

  7. Lovely card. The background reminds me of the coverings that used to be on older sofa type furniture. I like the contrast of the vivid colours against the white background.
