Snowman & Robin

The prompt for Day 27 at Beccy's Place month long holiday challenge is X.
I chose X for X Stitch.

I have had this little cross stitch on my stash for a long time. It was in a card that I received from a friend many years ago and had intended that I would re-use it at some point.  Roll on at least 10 years and here we are.

I used a red cardstock base and added a border of gold self adhesive tape. The snowman is held behind a thick chipboard frame and then matted onto some gold foil paper. The polka dot panel from Craftwork Cards has been inked with a small red ink pad to bring out the dots.

I added a sentiment matted onto gold mirri card and finally added some bling in the corners for a bit of sparkle.

We are very lucky that we have robins that are frequent visitors to our garden and even had a nest this year with a baby. I was in the garden and it popped out to see me for about 20 minutes. It was really close to me and didn't seem scared. At times it looked right at me. It was very special as you don't usually see baby ones. I popped in the house and grabbed my phone to get a few snaps.

I am in the process of decorating our spare bedroom at the moment and in between tasks I am making Christmas cards. I only have a few more to make and I will have completed the whole month of Beccy's challenges. Not bad considering I started late and had to some catching up to do.

  1. I love that you recycled that cross stitch design into this wonderful card - the snowman is so sweet - he definitely deserves the second life you have given him :) Thanks so much for joining us at TIME OUT! Jill

X-stitch is a fabulous idea for the "X" prompt Mandy, good thinking! The little snowman is adorable and looks awesome on your card. I'm impressed that you've kept it in such good condition for a decade. Good on you for bringing it out, I'm sure whoever receives the card will love it!
